Have you ever had this thought: Is God male or female?
For me God is my Daddy in heaven. He gives me strength and he shows me my real beauty. God has all lovely characteristics. He has this motherly features as well: God encounters us with love, he gives us attention, care and comfort... And we see the father features in Adam and the mother features in Eva. "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; man and female created he them." Genesis 1,27
So we are his creations in his own image. I think wow.... God is in us and we are in him! So this is our answer: God is male and female.

I think god is spirit.He has no gender because of this he can understand us both male and female.
I mean how could god life forever when he´s having a body made of substance.

Johannes :) I don't think Nadine meant to say that God IS male or female, when she wrote that he is "both" it means there are Godly traits in both men and women. God being a father and a mother to us doesn't mean he's human. Yes, he is a different kind of being, he IS Spirit.. but he still calls himself our Father... And I wouldn't say it's better to not spend thoughts on these kind of things....David for example spent nights meditating over God....I think it's GOOD to search, to think, to marvel.. just "knowing" facts about God and not letting them move you anymore is a dead end....

@4ever: I do agree, it's good to search and to ponder upon God's greatness and majesty. But, I think someone has said at some point: If I really could understand God, than he would no longer be God - or at least a God that I would not be willing to follow any more.
General: I was thinking of "The Shack" by William Paul Young - does anyone know the book? In it, God is depicted as a) a young man, b) a creature similar to a ghost, and c) an African woman :-)
I can recommend the book - I would not take it as a literal description, but it helped me to think of God in new ways!
yeah! I read it - initially cuz I was interested in the whole kidnap thing x) - but then it took me somewhere completely different.. it IS an epic book.
